Allergen Information

Caribbean and West African cooking leans on ingredients that are common allergens — groundnut, celery, shellfish, wheat. If you have an allergy or intolerance, please read this before ordering.

Always tell us before you order

Our food is cooked in a single kitchen where all 14 regulated allergens are handled. Shared equipment, oil and preparation surfaces mean we cannot guarantee any dish is free from traces of an allergen, even when that ingredient is not in the recipe.

If your allergy is severe, contact us before placing an order and we will check the exact recipe and preparation for the dishes you are considering.

Checking a specific dish

Recipes change as we cook seasonally and as suppliers change, so the most reliable answer is always a current one. Tell us the dish and the allergen and we will confirm before you pay.

The 14 regulated allergens

UK law requires food businesses to declare these fourteen. Where they appear in our cooking, we have noted the forms they usually take.

  • Celery

Including celeriac, and celery salt used in stocks and seasoning.

  • Cereals containing gluten

Wheat, rye, barley and oats — so bread, flour, roti, pastry and most thickened sauces.

  • Crustaceans

    Prawns, crab, lobster, crayfish.

  • Eggs

Including egg used in batters, glazes, mayonnaise and some pastries.

  • Fish

Including fish sauce and stock used for depth of flavour.

  • Lupin

A flour sometimes found in bread and pastry.

  • Milk

Butter, cheese, cream, milk powder and yoghurt.

  • Molluscs

    Mussels, oysters, squid, whelks.

  • Mustard

Mustard seed, powder and liquid mustard in marinades and dressings.

  • Nuts

Tree nuts: almonds, cashews, walnuts, pecans, pistachios, hazelnuts, macadamia, Brazil nuts.

  • Peanuts

Peanuts and groundnut oil — common in West African cooking.

  • Sesame

    Seeds, oil and tahini.

  • Soya

Soy sauce, tofu, soya flour and some marinades.

  • Sulphur dioxide and sulphites

Above 10mg/kg — used as a preservative in some dried fruit and condiments.

How we handle allergens

One kitchen, shared equipment

Every dish is prepared in the same kitchen. We clean down between preparations, but we do not operate separate allergen-free production areas.

Recipes change

Ingredients and suppliers change with the season. Information you were given previously may no longer hold, so please check again each time if your allergy is severe.
